Authors are people that just want to share their lives and thoughts with others for so many reasons.
This Author Coaching platform is for our benefit and learning!
What is Coaching?
Coaching has many definitions.
It is “a process for informal transmission of knowledge, social capital, and the psycho-social support perceived by the recipient as relevant to work, career, professional development: coaching entrails informal communication, usually face-to-face and during a sustained period of time, between a person who is perceived to have greater relevant knowledge, wisdom, or experience and the a person who is perceived to have less”, Bozeman and Feeney (2007).
Coaching is partnering with individuals in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.
Education imparts knowledge; training imparts skills; but coaching takes your hand and walk you through the process of putting your skills to work; guiding you as you make mistakes, until you master the skills and become proficient, able to stand on your own.
Why Author Coaching?
Many people have knowledge about book writing. They know the theory of it. Taking a course on book writing gives you access to the requisite skills and secrets of success as an author. But it’s only through author coaching that you have the opportunity to test, prove and be sure that the skills you acquired are relevant to the real world, as you begin to put them to use.
For the Book Writing & Self-publishing Course, coaching is a critical component of the total package. As they say, ‘half education is dangerous’; in the same way, attending the training without participating in the coaching is akin to half education – it’s dangerous and will hurt your author career.
The Author coaching lasts for 12 weeks, which is 3 months. This is a period of conversation between the coach and you, the coachee. Our focus is on helping you to discover answers to questions you might have. We believe that self-generated results are much better than imposed results. Our process is simple –
- Discuss what happened,
- Repeat the process, until you get full grips on your authorship.
Learning is fundamental to the process. The most powerful learning comes through personal experience. Therefore, if you are not practicing what you learned during the training, you won’t have any experiences to share.
Since this is the “doing” part of the Book Publishing Course, our focus will be on the following
- Your Book Writing: how far are you doing? What are your challenges? What lessons?
- Publishing: which platforms are you publishing? What are the challenges? What support do you need? Have you set up your own website? Are you managing it yourself?
- Marketing: how are you going about it? What’s your public image like on Social Media? How do your collaborate with others to promote your works?
- Author Business: are you truly in business or you want to practice a hobby?
We hope you will enjoy the coaching process.
Author Coaching also is good for peer learning. It helps us to create a bond of support which is very important for the long-term success in our author journey.
