If you don’t do Something, Something will do you.
There is this statement that has become popular among the people in recent times, which says “Whatever God Cannot Does Not Exist”.
While that statement is true in one sense, it is also not true in another sense. There are many things God can do and things he will do. There are also things God cannot do and will not do. Until people understand the difference between what God can do and will do, and what he cannot do and will not do, people will continue to leave everything about themselves to God.
The consequence is that people will continue to perish, while waiting for God to do for them what he has given them the capacity to do.
Let me give examples.
God cannot and will not farm your garden for you. He will not clear the garden nor sow the seeds. You have to do it. If you don’t do it, forget it. Can God do those things? Yes, he can. But will he do them? No, he will not! Because he has given you the power to do them.
God will not serve food on your table neither will he put food in your mouth. If you don’t do these, you will die of hunger, and God will not stop being God.
God will not come from heaven to become the President or Governor or Local Government Chairman in your place. If you don’t have people to occupy those positions, they will remain vacant.
God cannot construct roads in your community or sink boreholes and pipe the water to your homes. God does not construct houses for people nor build hospitals. God will not fix your electricity challenges. God will not become the local vigilante, soldiers and police officers in your communities to your protect lives and property.
You have to do these things yourselves or they will remain undone, while you suffer the consequences. It’s time to recognize what God can do and what will not do. God had given you the commandment, the capacity, and the responsibility to get things done. If you don’t rise to do them, God cannot be held responsible. God cannot do what he has given you the responsibility and the capacity to do.
There is too much laziness and abdication of human responsibilities among the people, being fueled by incorrect motivational statements that have no theological validation. Those statements sound cheap, easy and appeal to the people’s proclivity to laziness.
One of the greatest responsibilities God has given to you is to protect yourself from harm. If you meet imminent danger, something immediately propels you to take action, either to escape or attack to remove the danger. God gave you the responsibility and the capacity for self-defense. If you don’t rise to defend yourselves from imminent danger, you will die and God will not be held responsible.
Communities around Nigeria must do “whatever” within their local capacities, whether spiritual, metaphysical or material to protect themselves. The times are tough. God will only help you when you rise to defend yourselves. Stop the lamentations. Arise now and do the needful.
Stop waiting for the Government. Stop waiting for help. Help yourselves. Rally help yourselves and be strong. Confront what is confronting you. The time to act is now.
Let communities rally round themselves. Let people rise up to the security challenges of the time. When life is at stake, there is no law that can override self defense. Get this clear. Life is superior to the law, because the law exists only to protect life. Acquire whatever power, physical or spiritual, to protect yourselves and your communities.
