LIFE IS GOOD
If there is a book that deserves to be called ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul’, this is it. Pastor Joseph Ibekwe has provided chicken soup to worried souls that really desire to understand the purpose of their lives and are determined to chart the voyage of their lives to safety and blessedness. This is the work of a preacher with a difference. Pastor Ibekwe is an evangelist – he tells the good news as a modern-day storyteller; he presents the truths of the gospel as they are meant to be – good news. He practices what he preaches: he connects to make an impact. Surely, this is an impactful book.
This book is deceptively simple. In fact, its excellence is its simplicity. Pastor Ibekwe presents the fundamental truths about life in a clear and precise language. It is said that simplicity is the hallmark of knowledge. When we master a subject, we simplify it. The mastery of the gospel of our Lord Jesus is very manifest in this little book. The book is scripturally accurate and up to date without being theological. It focuses on the reality of today’s life without being mundane or pedantic; it teaches life’s lessons in a way that touches the heart and enlightens the mind. You will be thrilled as well as motivated as you read it.
I have read many Christian and life-changing books by bible teachers, preachers and motivational speakers. I can say that this is one of the finest. It is well-written. This is a feat for religious writers. Usually religious texts seem boring and presumptive. This is different. It is a treasure-trove of nuggets of wisdom for living a successful life and turning around a damaged life. Unlike prosperity and feel-good books, this is hard-hitting. It locates the problem of human life in sin and provides a sure remedy: salvation in Christ Jesus. Pastor Ibekwe makes the simple step of salvation very logical and compelling. There’s no kidding. He shows that sin has bequeathed to humanity what the later British philosopher, Isaiah Berlin, called the ‘crooked timber of mankind’. We are all crooked because we are sinners. But we are not doomed. We can always begin again; we can always undo our errors and achieve the excellence that we have always desired.
This book is timely. The nations face the scourge of social ills, even amongst an unlikely group: housewives, young boys and girls. Is there anything we can do to contain the spread of these social evils? This book offers a timely and effective remedy. Pastor Ibekwe wants to help heal the void and confusion in the lives of young people and adults. He provides them a reason to live and leads them through simple steps and processes to end their damaged past and refocus on an exciting journey of spiritual life. This formula works.
I will recommend this book to anyone in frontline ministry working with young people, to counselors who struggle to help people get back to vital and useful lives, and to leadership tutors and life coaches who are challenged to mentor the young ones to live successful and happy life.
This book is written for you. It is written with wisdom, passion and experience by a man who has been on the forefront of championing a Christianity that solves the real problems of mankind. This book distills an eternal truth of the scriptures and presents it to you in a banquet. That truth is: Life is Good. Yes. Enjoy it.
