Honourary Professor of Public Leadership & Governance
This is Joseph Chinenyeze Ibekwe – a Nigerian-born philosopher, journalist, author, leadership educator, and social entrepreneur.
I’m the enunciator of Fledism school of thought and leadership philosophy.
I’m a communications consultant, a Magazine publisher, and author of several books, with over 35 years combined professional experience.
I am the President and Founder of Fled Group Africa, which compromise a number of social enterprise organizations committed to promoting sustainable human development in Africa.
I am also the Lead Coach at The Joseph Coaching International.
I was born on November 12, 1964 in a small rural village called Ezeagbogu, Ezinihitte Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria.
I’m a lifelong learner, knowledge creator, and lifelong teacher.
I was formerly a development journalist in the 1990s with the Daily Times of Nigeria in Lagos where I reported extensively on issues about health, sciences, environment, and conservation.
I have multi-disciplinary training and experience as a Para-medic, a social entrepreneur, a public issues moderator; a Gender practitioner; and a journalist.
I have come to be referred to as the Apostle of Public Leadership, because of my pioneering work to promote transformational public leadership development in Nigeria and Africa. I am the founder, Foundation for Leadership & Education Development; an NGO established in 1995 to build the leadership and entrepreneurial capacity of youths to enable them participate in development processes.
In 1999, I also established the Fled International Leadership Institute – a graduate leadership school to train transformational public leaders in Nigeria and beyond.
In 2022, working the support of my team at Fled Institute, we established the Africa Centre for Public Leadership – ACPL. It is a Pan-African professional Membership organization committed to promoting the principles and practice of transformational leadership in Africa.
Membership of ACPL now exists in different countries in Africa, US, Canada, and UK.
Through the different organizations under Fled Group Africa, I have trained and mentored over 10, 000 youths and mid-career professionals in leadership, in the past 30 years. The unique thing is that I have run these social enterprise organizations without foreign grants and donations.
I am a 1996 Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar, Austria and a 2010 CSO Fellow of the World Bank/IMF in Washington DC, USA. Between 2007 & 2008, I served as Member, National Working Group of Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM-NWG) on the appointment of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
I am a trained UNESCO Development Expert Leader from UNESCO Training Centre, San Sebastian, Spain.
I am an Amazon-published author of several books including The Quest for Political Leadership & Citizens’ Democracy; Politics is Kingdom Business; College Prefects are Leaders; Effective Writing for Career Excellence; How to Do More By Being More; Take Charge of Your Life, Create the Life You Desire; Promoting Sustainable Human Development through Mentoring; The Audacity of Pursuit, Power of Focused Perseverance (my autobiography); and others.
I am the Publisher of Future World Magazine.
I have been a consultant to UNESCO Nigeria Office, Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Federal Ministry of Finance, in the areas of leadership development.
In recognition of my pioneering work in the field of leadership education in Nigeria, I was awarded an Honourary Doctorate in Leadership Development & Conflict Mediation, by the Freedom University & Theological Seminary, Portsmouth USA, Africa Campus Nigeria, in 2022.
In further recognition of my intellectual contributions to the field of leadership education in Nigeria, particularly the enunciation of the Fledism Leadership Philosophy and school of thought, I have been appointed and conferred with an Honourary Professor of Public Leadership & Governance, by Freedom University & Theological Seminary, Portsmouth USA, Africa Campus in 2025.
My formal academic background is intriguing and multi-disciplinary. I spent three years at University of Abuja where I studied for a Postgraduate and Masters Degree in Gender Studies.
I also hold a Post-Graduate Diploma is Education from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto; and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos (1994)
I completed my Higher National Diploma in Science Technology, majoring in Microbiology, from the Institute of Management & Technology, Enugu in 1989. I had my National Diploma in Science Technology at the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri in 1986, formerly College of Technology, Nekede, Owerri.
I am also a graduate of the Kenneth E. Hagin’s Rhema Bible Training Centre, Nigeria where I specialized in Spiritual and Societal Leadership.
I am a trained teacher and educator. In the past 30 years, I have worked with my team to develop and implement diverse educational leadership training curricular which are usable for professional certification of leaders at the different levels. Some of the program curricular are used at Fled International Leadership Institute, while others are implemented at Foundation for Leadership & Education Development.
I completed my secondary school at the famous and prestigious Mbaise Secondary School (MSS), Aboh Mbaise, Imo State in 1983. MSS Never fails!
I am a regular speaker at local, national, and international events on diverse development issues, including Bible teaching and preaching.
I am an ordained Reverend Gentleman and a Member of Rhema Ministerial Association International, Nigeria.
I am a Bible teacher, preacher, Founder and Lead Pastor of Chapel of Grace Transformation Ministry, Inc, Abuja.
My personal life philosophy is this: “Don’t allow what you cannot do stop you from doing what you can”.
I love gardening and I play golf at my spare time. I live with his family in Abuja – Nigeria.
